Dr. Barbara Mancini (she/her)
Clinic Head & Founder
Welcome, I am a clinical and counselling psychologist who values working collaboratively with clients towards their goals. I welcome the opportunity to connect, meet, and discuss whether our 2SLGBTQ+-positive and neuro-affirming service is a good fit for your needs.
Taking a holistic approach to mental health and life development needs, I work with families, children, adolescents, and adults towards addressing their functioning, relationships, mental health, identity, addictions, education, and career development needs. With competencies in both clinical and counselling psychology, I can assist individuals across a wide range of areas, including mood and anxiety issues, trauma/abuse, addictions, learning and neurodiversity needs, family, parenting/Co-parenting, and relational difficulties, gender dysphoria, gender and non-binary identity concerns, gender transition, sexual identity/coming out, as well as educational challenges and general life transitions like bereavement, career change, job loss, etc. Advocacy and consultation are key areas of my work and sharing knowledge, effecting positive change, and building community are key pieces of the role I play as a psychologist. I work as an advocate for clients and families within systems like schools and workplaces, creating opportunities for deeper understanding and improving supports. I provide consultation as an expert to both the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analyists of Ontario, as well as a range of corporations and media/film development agencies.
I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with over 17 years of experience conducting research, providing psychological assessment, treatment, and counselling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I also value working with parents using an attachment-focused approach and am a certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator. I earned Ph.D. and Master’s degrees at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and have worked in both private practice, community counselling, mental health and addiction treatment hospital settings. I am an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto and support students in their graduate studies research, as well as to pursue research opportunities as part of their work and training at Step Stone Psychology.
I feel fortunate to have a team of conscientious, dedicated, and talented clinicians working in our unique practice together. We are committed to providing professional, sensitive, multi-disciplinary and evidence-based services to you and your family, as well as specialized training to students and registration candidates. I look forward to meeting you.
